First of all , Thank you Phil for such a lovely webpage. The Fox wasn't my first ship, but it sure was my best one. It was a pleasure to serve on board the newest ship in the fleet back in 1966 and 1967. As a member of the pre com crew and first westpac crew, it was a proud moment to be apart of the best the US Navy has...and I was a Canadian! I moved to the USA when i was 15, and when I turned 18, I had to register for the draft. When they told me I was next on the list to be drafted, I immediately signed up for the Navy!
I moved back to Canada in 1972, when my canoe building uncle died, and I have been here making wooden canoes all this time! Heck i think if we had used Miller canoes on the Meekong Delta patrolling, the war would have been won! The VC could hear those aluminum Gunboats coming from ten miles away!
Tally HO!
